Jersey Boys – Aug 13 2024

Our third Bus Trip of 2024 started off a bit different than the earlier trips. Unlike the first trip, there was no massive traffic tie-up on the westbound Hwy 401 that forced a detour to Hwy 407 and an hour’s delay getting out of the city. Unlike the second trip, there was no one-month-worth-of-rain-falling-in-two-hours event, which flooded freeways and also caused a delay getting out of the city. But like those earlier trips, our Pensioners enjoyed a pleasant lunch and a quality performance. Jersey Boys is the story of the 1960s singing group “The Four Seasons”. It describes the group’s formation on the rough-and-tumble streets of Newark, New Jersey, to the heights of success, and then the break-up. We heard songs like “December, 1963 (Oh, What a Night)”, “My Eyes Adored You”, and “Walk Like a Man”.

Fiddler on the Roof – June 19 2024

On June 19, after a slight delay due to traffic, 32 HPAO members bused over to see Fiddler on the Roof at the Huron Country Playhouse in Grand Bend.

This touching story about a humble milkman and his five rebellious daughters has charmed audiences worldwide with its themes of hope, love, and acceptance – and its unforgettable music, including “Matchmaker, Matchmaker,” “If I Were A Rich Man, “and “Sunrise, Sunset.”

A relaxing bus ride was in order after leaving the Toronto area and a relaxing lunch.

Fiddler on the Roof was well received by the participants.

In response to input from members, the luncheon featured more prizes, a quiz and what may be loosely termed a fashion display.

Hopefully, the smiling faces indicate that you did enjoy yourself.

Chinese New year dinner

WEDNESDAY JANUARY 31, 2024

Many members of the HPAO-Toronto district celebrated the Chinese New Year by attending a special annual celebration organized by Stanley Chau, formerly with NHSS/OPG. We enjoyed a delicious 10-course dinner held at the ‘A La Kitchen’ restaurant in Markham, caught up with old Hydro friends and met new ones.
